For more than two decades, Loredana Pazzini Paracciani has helped bring Southeast Asian contemporary art into sharper international focus. Based in Thailand, the independent curator, researcher and writer has worked with institutions including Silpakorn University Art Centre, MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, Jim Thompson Art Center, 100 Tonson Foundation and Bangkok Art Biennale, placing Thai artists within wider regional and global conversations.

In 2026, that outward-looking approach takes her to Venice as curator of Timor-Leste’s National Pavilion at La Biennale di Venezia. The appointment builds naturally on years of fieldwork and relationships with artists and communities across Southeast Asia, through which she has explored history, identity, migration and cultural memory.

Her contribution extends beyond exhibitions. Her master thesis on Bangkok’s Art Education System is held by the National Gallery Singapore’s research library, while publications including Diaspora: Exit, Exile, Exodus of Southeast Asia and Interlaced Journeys have contributed to scholarship on the region.

She also edited Across Words: An Anthology, the first publication to examine Timor-Leste’s arts and culture from a Southeast Asian perspective. Appearing following the country’s accession to ASEAN, it addresses a significant gap in regional scholarship. Across curating, research and writing, Pazzini Paracciani’s work connects artists, institutions and audiences while giving Southeast Asian voices greater international visibility.
