When their vintage clothing business slowed during the pandemic, Cherry W. Rain-Phuangfueang and Teerapat ‘Home’ Phuangfueang picked up crochet hooks and knitting needles. What began as a lockdown pursuit changed the direction of their creative lives – and became the foundation of Nong Rak.

Self-taught in both crafts, the pair found early momentum with a handmade mohair hat that attracted attention for its distinctive texture and character. Today, Nong Rak is known for cloud-like mohair, airy open knits and handcrafted silhouettes that sit deliberately apart from mass-produced fashion.

Materials matter as much as technique. Working with a small team of artisans, Cherry and Home use deadstock yarns, locally dyed silk and rare materials to produce pieces in limited quantities. Natural variations are embraced rather than disguised, while experimentation and material awareness shape the creative process.

That highly tactile approach has travelled. Nong Rak has collaborated with Marc Jacobs’ Heaven label and, in 2026, the duo reached the Top 20 finalists for the LVMH Prize, putting their handmade work before an international fashion audience.

Their next chapter turns further towards home, with plans to explore Thai materials more deeply. For Cherry and Home, slow fashion is not simply about producing less; it is about allowing craftsmanship, materials and human hands to determine the pace.
