Choltanutkun Tun-atiruj

Journalist

Industry : The Arts

It’s hard not to recognise Choltanutkun Tun-atiruj’s by-line if you rely on English-language digital media to keep up with what’s going on in Bangkok. The now 27-year-old journalist started her media career at Asia City’s popular BK magazine, notably covering nightlife and social issues. Realising an increased passion in the latter, Choltanutkun joined forces with veteran journo VoranaiVanijaka to create a new platform that would challenge the way news and important issues in Thailand are reported and discussed. Launched earlier this year, the platform is Thisrupt and it’s already shaking up the media sphere in Thailand. Known for being honest and loud in every way ‘Chol’, who is also a body positivity and beauty diversity advocate, believes that while you can’t please everyone, the single most important thing that anyone can do for a country like Thailand is to speak up about injustice and inequality. She hopes to expand Thisrupt nationwide and for it to become the leading online English-language publication in Thailand.
