Equipped with a degree from Harvard Law School, Natthapat Thawiwannabun, legal officer at the Ministry of Finance’s State Enterprise Policy Office, is one to keep an eye on. She overhauls and develops systems for management and supervision of state-owned enterprises through measures including drafting and enforcing laws and regulations and giving legal and business advice. A stellar legal officer, she has represented Thailand at EU-Thai FTA conferences in Brussels and co-drafted a bill to reform the structural governance of Thai state-owned enterprises and the Private Investments in State Undertakings Act B.E. 2556 (2013). In December 2019, she was accepted as an Obama Foundation Leader (Asia-Pacific). With her profound interest in legal issues, business, macroeconomics, international development and government reform, the 31-year-old hopes to change the status quo and create a mindset among Thai civil servants that focuses on the rule-of-law. She also wants to raise awareness of the need for competent state governance allied with societal values that improve the lives of all.
