Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 is here! Discover the theme Angels and Mara, 72 artists and 11 venues across Bangkok from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027.
When the world around you turns violent and life feels impossible to defeat, art is often what we turn to in the time of need. And those prayers have been answered because the wait is finally over: Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 is officially open! Turning Bangkok into the city of contemporary art from 29 October 2026 to 28 February 2027, for four months, 11 venues across the capitol will host works of over 72 artists from Thailand and around the world.
Founded back in 2017, Bangkok Art Biennale (BAB)’s main goal is to propel the city of Bangkok into Southeast Asia’s leading contemporary art destination showcasing works of artists from over the world; an event and space where art is accessible to the public. Nonetheless, the city itself plays a crucial role as venues – from temples, heritage sites to urban sites – Bangkok’s sites became the houses exhibiting the artworks and live art performances.
For its 5th time, this year’s Bangkok Art Biennale comes in the theme Angels and Mara – transforming the city of angels into the land where both the good spirits meet the sinful ones. With the chaos happening in the current world we live in, the theme explores the duality of the goodness and the undesirable, how these two ideas contrast each other out yet still coexist in interdependently.
Bangkok sites are always a pleasure to any sore eyes. This time, these 11 locations are selected as the venues to house the artworks and art performances of 72 artists for four months. Find out which venues are worth adding to your itinerary below!
As the world continues to navigate through challenging times, art remains a powerful way to bring people together and encourage new perspectives. With works from 72 artists and 11 venues around the city, Bangkok Art Biennale 2026 is an invitation for you to see the world through a different lens and is definitely an experience worth adding to your Bangkok itinerary. After all, there’s always room for a little more art in life.
