As Halloween approaches, it’s the perfect time to turn our attention to the things that go bump in the night. From legendary Thai ghosts to supernatural characters that linger in our imaginations, there’s something about a good ghost story that keeps us coming back for more. Whether it’s the thrill of being scared or the fascination with the characters themselves, the world of the supernatural has a way of capturing our attention.
For this Halloween edition of Koktail Kurious, we invited our guests to share their favourite ghost characters, from the ones they find cool, fierce and even a little seductive to those that never fail to send chills down their spines. Along the way, we explored familiar figures like Mae Nak, vampires and the many different personalities that make supernatural characters so memorable.
Some ghosts are frightening, some are fascinating, and some might even be the kind we’d love to meet. But one thing is certain: everyone has their own kind of ghost story. And this Halloween, we’re here to find out which ones stay with us long after the lights go out.
I usually like ghosts… butterflies (phee-suea), because they can fly!
Umm, maybe something that lives in the water. A ghost in the water. Reason? You’ll see soon.
My favourite ghost is Khun Yai Woranat. I also like… centipedes. If you want to know why, you’ll have to watch the film Inherit (2026). Just kidding! I’ve been really into centipedes lately, so I guess Khun Yai Woranat would be my favourite ghost. She’s absolutely terrifying!
For Halloween, if you ask me which ghost character I like the most, I’d say Casper. I’ve loved him since I was a kid.

I like … phee ruk ter took na, phloe ruk ter took natee (I fall in love with you every minute)
For me, it’s not really a ghost, but I absolutely love the film Obsession (2025). I haven’t actually watched the film yet, but I’ve seen the trailer and clips that come up on my social media. Every time I see them, I think, ‘I really want to watch this!’ I’ve also listened to people analysing the film, and I feel like it’s going to be a really memorable one. I’m waiting for it to come out. I need to go and watch it!
I’m not really a fan of horror films, but when I was little, I liked Casper because he was such a cute ghost and the story was fun. He’s the only ghost character I remember from my childhood.
My favourite ghost character is Casper, the cartoon. I feel like he’s the kind of ghost I wouldn’t be scared of. He’s really cute.
I think I’ll go with Baba Yaga. She’s a witch from Russian folklore. I like watching films, and she often appears in them, so I’ve seen her quite a lot since I was a kid. That’s why I like her.
My favourite ghost character? I’d say a vampire. They just look pretty cool. Edward. Edward from Twilight (2008). I like him because he’s cool, and I really like the film too.
The first one that came to mind was Mae Nak. She’s such an OG Thai ghost. No matter how many times I see her, she still scares me every single time!
The ghost characters I like? I tend to go for ones that are cool, fierce, and a little sexy. But they can also be really creepy and scary. Honestly, I like all kinds of ghost characters because each one has a different personality and a different kind of scariness.
