Weeraya “Min” Vichayaprasertkul has spent eight years turning complex environmental questions into stories people can see, understand and act upon. A Chevening Scholar, climate documentary filmmaker and media producer, she is currently completing a master’s degree at the University of York while continuing the work she began through Deep Doc Media, the company she founded in Thailand.
Her camera has taken her across more than 72 Thai provinces, documenting stories spanning environmental challenges, education, culture and equality. Along the way, she has led more than 15 communication campaigns across Thailand and ASEAN and created over 30 documentaries reaching millions of viewers.
Films including Pad Thai (2022) and Forest-Coast-City (2020) have earned recognition at international environmental film festivals and found a further life as educational tools for climate learning – an extension of Min’s belief that filmmaking can do more than simply record change.
That philosophy also places education at the centre of her work. Having collaborated with more than 30 environmental organisations, she trains young people in climate media production, equipping communities to tell their own stories rather than have others speak for them.
Her growing international profile included an invitation to COP29 in Azerbaijan, where she was the only Thai filmmaker featured on the programme. For Min, the screen is both creative medium and catalyst: a way to make climate action feel immediate, human and shared.
