Ice cream hits peak deliciousness in the summer heat, but gelato? That’s a whole other level. It’s that silky, luscious texture that sneaks up on you and cools you down with every bite. Hailing all the way from Italy to Thailand, gelato has settled in so naturally that we barely even notice its European roots anymore.
For clarity, gelato has less fat, is churned more slowly, and is served slightly warmer, which makes it denser, smoother and more flavourful. Ice cream is churned faster and served colder, so it is lighter and contains more air, giving it a fluffier texture.
With its creamy depth, playful flavours and irresistible smoothness, gelato has earned its reputation as the ultimate summer dessert in Thailand. Koktail has rounded up 10 gelaterias in Bangkok and other adjacent metropolitan areas, ideal for escaping (or savouring) the heat.
A gelato shop that promises to blow you away with every scoop, fully certified by Italy for authenticity
Albero promises to blow their customers away with flavours that pack a punch, and they deliver. Sleek containers, modern gelato and prime mall locations like Central Embassy, EmQuartier and CentralWorld make it easy to indulge. Even better? It’s Italy-approved: Albero is Thailand’s first gelateria certified by Ospitalità Italiana, a mark of true Italian authenticity recognised by ISNART and the Italian government. Its authenticity is clear, yet the gelato embraces a modern touch, making each scoop feel both classic and contemporary.
The latest gelato sensation on Sukhumvit 49, where gelato becomes a passport to cultural discovery
The latest gelato sensation has officially landed on Sukhumvit 49, taking over the new home of Café Buongiorno. Steering the venture is Commendatore Enzo Peroni, recently conferred this decoration by the President of Italy, whose life philosophy drives his culinary and business practices. The bright yellow and green-coloured café is split into two distinct spaces. Per Tutti offers a full-day menu of authentic Italian dishes, whereas the Gelateria surprises with an array of gelato flavours, ranging from classic favourites to eccentric creations like red wine and beer gelato. Fresh on the block but seasoned in the craft, Café Buongiorno heralds an exciting chapter for the Italian dessert scene in Bangkok.
Gen-Z gelato done right, where names like Kyoto Hentai (yabukita matcha) and Naughty Habibi (dark Dubai chocolate) are actual menu items!
This is it. This is the ultimate gelato spot for Zoomers. Daddy Don’t Know Gelato House fully embraces the Gen-Z aesthetic, with cheeky, borderline risqué flavours like Naughty Habibi (dark Dubai chocolate), Kyoto Hentai (yabukita matcha), and Pickle Me Deeper (this one should be self-explanatory). The name comes from the owner’s desire to open a gelato shop without Dad knowing. The containers are hilarious and meme-ready, and the shop exudes playful rebellion, Gen-Z style, never taking itself too seriously.
A gelato shop with pastel blue awnings and big glass windows, straight out of a Florence shop alley
Walking past Gelato & Co is like being whisked away to a quaint alley in Florence. The soft pastel blue awnings and large glass panels allow passersby to watch the gelato being crafted in real time, turning a simple dessert run into an experience. And, of course, the pastel-hued, photogenic storefront makes it almost impossible not to stop for a picture or two. Their gelato uses only the finest ingredients, is satisfyingly sticky without losing its creamy texture, and tastes authentic.
Elementary, my dear Watson! Gelato in its purest form, with none of the fluff, plus a workshop to try your hand at making it
Elementary, my dear Watson! At Gelato Elementary, simplicity is the name of the game. And by elementary, they don’t mean plain or boring. Instead, they believe that the art of gelato shouldn’t be more complicated than it needs to be. Gelato Elementary is as much about serving fresh, delicious gelato as it is about teaching newcomers the craft behind it. Their Gelato Fundamental (“Fun” very much emphasised) workshop invites gelato lovers everywhere to try their hand at making their own. The lessons are simple and sweet, just like the gelato itself.
The grand gelato finale to end your munchies run on a sweet note (pun intended), featuring 60 flavours of ultimate indulgence

Gelato lovers are sure to be tempted by the incredible lineup of 60 flavours, each one tailored to suit every taste. The shop in Bang Rak is drenched in bright yellow, inside and out, with one interior wall lined with playful 2D cartoon-style windows that keep things fun and relaxed. Stopping by the shop is like leaving the grey city behind for a moment and stepping into a small, sun-drenched corner of Italy.
Gelato reimagined in new forms, headquartered in Nonthaburi with a prime Siam Paragon spot
Although the shop’s headquarters are in Nonthaburi (not far from Bangkok), it also has a prime spot in Siam Paragon. Here, the coffee is just as impressive as the gelato (hence the “More” in the name). Gelato is transformed in a new, exciting way, most notably the grazia semi-freddo – a gelato cake with a soft, creamy filling inside. Gelato bars, exclusive to the Siam Paragon location, come in surprising varieties (who knew gelato could be this versatile?). Flavours like chocolate and pistachio shine, though pistachio is the pick if you’re into chocolate Dubai vibes.
Hey Gelato! A name that literally invites you in, hiding in one of Chinatown’s cosiest corners with a new menu each Saturday
Hey Gelato is tucked deep in one of Yaowarat’s narrow sois, the kind of spot dessert lovers would happily gatekeep as their little secret. But with a name like that, it also beckons gelato fans specifically, cheekily luring them to come find it anyway. To keep things fresh, the shop makes its gelato in small batches, churning daily and rolling out a new menu every Saturday. It’s just as it’s advertised – easily one of the freshest gelaterias in town. But gelato is not the whole story. The shop also serves sorbet, or the combination of both, which they call sorbetto. The menu also features sorbet and even a fusion of gelato and sorbet (sorbetto).
A detail-obsessed gelato house where every texture and scoop is measured and crafted with precision
The name tells it all. At Parameter, precision is everything. Every element of their gelato – down to the tiniest detail – is measured and controlled with expertise. Their ‘classic refined’ gelato carries a Zen-like quality, reminiscent of a perfectly tended bonsai, demanding mastery to achieve. Detail-obsessed in pursuit of perfection, Parameter takes gelato very seriously. According to Kris Srepoomseth, the master behind the gelato, this kind of technique is increasingly rare and hardly seen in other shops today. Even the churner Kris uses is over 100 years old. With five years of training under gelato masters abroad, he knows gelato through and through. This one’s for the true gelato enthusiasts.
Salaya’s newest gelato joint, playful, offbeat and all about “heart-made” gelato
Fresh on the scene (their Facebook only went live last November), Scoops & Spokes serves gelato like no other: house-made (although they would prefer the term ‘heart-made’), full of personality and totally Instagram-worthy. With a lively mascot, bright green accents, and a vibe that’s quirky and hip, this Salaya spot has it all. And gelato isn’t the only star: enjoy an affogato with nitro cold brew or a fluffy caramel toast alongside your scoop for the perfect combo. They are recruiting new staff at the moment; that’s how new they are. Give their gelato a try!
