One of the best things about the current fashion scene is the vast variety of styles and aesthetics occurring all at once. Like the early 2000s trends, ‘60s-’70s fashion are also making a comeback—think pattern clashing, flared pants, and colour blocking eleganza that have become decade-defining must-haves.
Camille Miceli, Pucci’s artistic director
Under the new direction of Pucci’s first female artistic director, Camille Miceli, the Italian brand has been revamped and is ready to assert itself in the modern-day fashion zeitgeist. Miceli’s first collection at Pucci, ‘La Piazzetta’, imbues the soulful message of ‘la dolce vita’ with pieces that inspire you to get up and search for a good time.
Starting with the logo, Pucci has swapped out its classic serif font for the alternative fish logo. Say hello to these two smiling fishes interlocking like a ying yang symbol and resembling the letter P.
A peek into the collection is like tumbling down a kaleidoscopic rabbit hole of ‘70s nostalgia. Miceli pays homage to Pucci eponymous prints, bringing back and adjusting signature patterns like the Marmo. Its acidic swirls are the perfect call back to the 70s.
If you’re looking for a summary of the collection’s finest prints, look no further than the patchwork miniskirt. Mixing and matching patterns is a skill, and Pucci is giving a masterclass by uniting leopard, geometric, botanical and marble prints all together while giving room for them to shine individually.
The clash of elements does not stop there—and why should it? Known for its refined and flexible materials, Pucci pieces are often wrinkle-free and provide maximum mobility. These lighter elements work surprisingly well when paired with structured textiles, such as a printed scarf laid over a monotone sweater. In a similar vein, their boxy-fit mod dresses are made softer with the groovy Geometrico prints and dynamic Marmo studded overlay.
For those who love to bring drama to the dressing room, Pucci is still sticking with their iconic printed kaftans, scarves, ruffled bell bottoms, and striking raffia bolero sleeves. Layer on the accessories with Pucci’s unabashedly oversized ski boots, printed wedges, and the trusty Lido bag.
‘La Piazzetta’, AW 2022 Collection is available to shop at Central Chidlom and Emporium’s Pucci Boutiques.
