On 5 November, the Koktail Thailand Dining Guide Awards 2027 brought the spotlight to Thailand’s food and hospitality industry at Gaysorn Urban Resort. Hosted by MediaMagination, publisher of Koktail Thailand and Time Out Thailand, the evening recognised the chefs, restaurants and industry professionals who make dining in Thailand worth shouting about.
Now in its 23rd year, the awards recognise achievements across the details that make a great dining experience, from food and service to creativity and sustainability.
The Koktail Thailand Dining Guide 2027 features over 300 restaurants, each visited and reviewed by the judging panel. Assessments cover food, ambience, beverage and service, with attention to culinary skill and each restaurant’s individual character.
The awards span categories such as Thailand’s Best, Openings of the Year, Neighbourhood Favourites, The Classics, Pioneer in Sustainability, Pioneer in Thai Cuisine, Thai Cuisine Ambassador, Casual Fine Dining, Wine Pairing of the Year, Alcohol-Free Pairing of the Year, Sommelier of the Year, Excellence in Service, Chefs of the Year and Restaurants of the Year.
The ceremony welcomed more than 800 guests representing Thailand’s food and hospitality industry, from chefs and restaurant owners to executives and other professionals.
As the evening unfolded, the awards recognised names from across Thailand’s dining scene, from established restaurants to rising talent and fresh idea innovators. The winners reflected the people, places and creativity that keep the country’s food and hospitality industry moving forward.
Nigel Oakins, Founder and Chairman of MediaMagination and publisher of Koktail Magazine, Koktail Dining Guide and Time Out Thailand, opened the ceremony with remarks to the guests.
“I’m going to say that the media industry is having a really bad year, but I’ve got a feeling the restaurant industry is also having a tough time. So I feel we have something in common. We’re fighting through this, and we want to do the best we can in a difficult situation.
I’m a little bit blown away tonight to see how many people are here. This is our 23rd year of doing this, and we have some of the very best chefs, service teams and hotel and restaurant professionals from across Thailand here with us tonight.
I’m trying to think: why are you here? Is it because of our awards, or is it because we throw a really good party? Finally!
And I think it’s time we celebrated what we do together, had a good time and really enjoyed ourselves. Yes, we’re going to give some awards away, and that’s fantastic too, but we all want to get together once a year and have a great time.
Now, I want to tell you that I’m not going to talk for too long because we have a lot of awards to present. But, you know, we review every single restaurant that we consider for our guide. For our very top restaurants, we actually dine there two, three or even four times.
Wow. We take it very seriously. We’re about 30 ordinary people who enjoy really fine dining. Many of our reviewers are here tonight.
But, you know, we don’t use AI. We don’t get a million baht from the TAT to do our reviews. We don’t vote for our family members to be named the best chef in the country. We do it from the heart, to give back to you all for the fantastic work you do in the industry.”
Patrick Martens, Director of Food & Beverage at Ratchaprasong Food Services, was invited to address the audience.
“Good evening. It’s wonderful to see this turnout again. Some of you may know, or may have been here before, that this is the third time we here at Gaysorn Village have welcomed the F&B industry and hospitality community to Gaysorn Urban Resort where we’re standing tonight.
Nigel spoke about it. It’s been a very interesting year, for sure, for all of us, and in all kinds of aspects of the business we do and the passion we bring to it every day as we strive to become the best at what we do.
But with all this striving to be the best, it’s always good that we can all come together in a room, spend time together and celebrate our industry, our passion and the craft that all of us, at different levels, bring to the table. Because without that, Bangkok and Thailand would certainly be a little less rich in culture.
Thank you, thank you. We are part of this, and we are very happy to have you all here to celebrate tonight with each other and with the rest of the Bangkok community.
Thank you very much. Have a wonderful night, and just congratulations in advance to all the winners that will be announced, and congratulations to everyone in the room who’s joining us tonight and is generally a part of this incredible community. Thank you.”
A representative from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) also took the stage to address the guests.
“Good evening, everyone. I’m so excited after hearing the wonderful speeches from both Mr Nigel and Mr Patrick today.
I have brought a few notes, but let me mention a few things first. I’m here on behalf of the Governor of Bangkok, Mr Chadchart Sittipunt, and it’s a great honour to be here tonight.
This is a big occasion. As you know, Bangkok really supports the food industry. One thing we try to promote is each district and its own charm. When you think of Yaowarat, you think of Chinese food. When you think of Banthat Thong, you think of various kinds of food. When you think of Talat Phlu, you might think of traditional Thai food and culture. This is what we aim to promote.
An occasion like tonight is something to be proud of, and I’m very proud to be here. I would also like to congratulate all the restaurants and chefs who are here today. To all the award recipients this evening, congratulations on your achievements. You are important to the future of our dining scene.
One more thing: congratulations to the Koktail Dining Guide on 23 years of celebrating culinary excellence. I wish you all an enjoyable evening as Koktail continues to put Bangkok on the world culinary map.
Thank you very much.”
Among the evening’s top honours were the Chefs of the Year awards, which recognised Chef Weerawat Triyasenawat of Sra Bua by Num Weerawat and Chef Tamaki Kobayashi of Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie for their contributions to Thailand’s dining scene.
At Sra Bua by Num Weerawat, Chef Weerawat puts a modern spin on Thai cuisine while staying true to local ingredients and traditions. Meanwhile, Chef Kobayashi brings her own creative touch to French cuisine at Anne-Sophie Pic at Le Normandie, with a focus on balance and aroma.
Chef Weerawat delivered a few words about his approach..
“I’m very pleased. This award reflects the teamwork behind what we do, and I’m happy for everyone on the Sra Bua team.”
Chef Kobayashi shared her thoughts on her culinary philosophy.
“Very good. It’s a great feeling to receive two awards. I think it also takes a lot of teamwork between the chef and the whole team. These awards are for everyone.”
The biggest awards of the night were naturally for Restaurants of the Year. The titles went to Blue by Alain Ducasse in Bangkok and hom in Phuket, two restaurants with very different takes on what makes a memorable dining experience.
At Blue by Alain Ducasse, Peruvian influence brings another cultural perspective to French fine dining. The restaurant combines French cooking with a welcoming atmosphere that makes guests feel right at home.
Over in Phuket, hom takes a different approach. Led by Chef Marcelo Baruch and his team, the restaurant puts fermentation and local ingredients at the heart of its menu. Its dishes draw on Thailand’s produce and the stories behind it.
Evans Lopez had this to say on receiving the Restaurant of the Year award for Blue by Alain Ducasse.
“Yeah, I think it’s teamwork, you know. I’m very happy for the team and for everyone, every guest who has contributed to this. I want to keep improving, evolving and continuing to discover Bangkok.”
Chef Marcelo Baruch also spoke about receiving the award for hom.
“I’m so happy. It’s a great honour to receive this award. Thank you so much.”
A big night for Thailand’s restaurant scene calls for a great venue. This year’s awards took place at Gaysorn Urban Resort in Bangkok’s Ratchaprasong district, which provided the space and facilities for the evening’s ceremony.
The evening also had the support of our sponsoring partners, whose contributions helped make the awards night possible. A big thank you to the Tourism Authority of Thailand, THAIFEX – HOREC Asia 2027, Gaysorn Village, Sato Sato, Qulture Thailand, La Fontana BKK, Chalong Bay Rum, HNINN, Cholos Bkk, FRICKIN’ Fried Chicken, Blue Elephant, ZUZA Sparkling Water, Jagota, Evian, Solisca and Inspirador Crafted Spirit by Amber HSCL.

So who made the list? This year’s awards recognised chefs and restaurants across Thailand, with the results reflecting the range of talent and dining experiences found throughout the country.
The winning restaurants and their ratings will appear in the Koktail Thailand Dining Guide 2027, alongside nearly 300 reviews that cover food, ambience, beverages and service. The guide is scheduled for publication in January 2027.
From familiar names to new faces, this year’s winners represent the people and places worth knowing in Thailand’s restaurant scene. Without further ado, here is the complete list of winners of the Koktail Thailand Dinner Guide Awards 2027.
