The swimwear designer’s fall collection is an ode to the beauty of nature

For the Fall/Winter 2022 fashion season, swimwear designer Angelys Balek has launched her “Garden Party” collection, a love letter to the beauty of nature and the joy it emanates. At the heart of the collection is an abstract print the designer has created, inspired by the surroundings of her Phuket vacation home. Brush strokes of beige, brown, light blue, orange, red, and a bit of black on a white canvas tell a story of the sand and the sea and some of the flora and fauna that can be found in and around them. In the collection, the print finds itself on a variety of bathing suit styles, as well as beach dresses, cover-ups, and even a pair of swim trunks for men. 

If you’re familiar with Angelys Balek, you’ll know that one of the perks of her designs is that they can easily be styled beyond the poolside and into everyday or even glamorous looks. This is in part due to her choice of silhouettes, such as her signature ruffles (which of course make their appearance in this collection), and the material used. 

Velvet is clearly in when it comes to swimwear. Garden Party’s velvet pieces, from skimpy bikinis to long-sleeved bodysuits, in hues of forest green, golden yellow, luscious red, and classic black, offer a sense of luxury. The brand uses a breathable velvet made for specifically swimwear, which dries quickly and suits wear in tropical climates. 

For a collection that celebrates nature, the brand’s eco initiative ought to be noted. Angelys Balek endorses the #HealthySeas initiative and uses Econyl, a nylon thread made of discarded fishing nets, to sew her pieces together. What a mermaid move.
