His IG profile states that he heads the “largest nursery in Samyan area” with a variety of lizards, cactusses, ocean fish, spiders and coral. But when you are recognised with the “Outstanding Mid-career Researcher 2022 (Bio-Sciences)” award by Chulalongkorn University, that’s probably understandable. He mentors his students to recognise their true passion and potential in real life, to be empathetic, synergistic and to think outside of the box, which he feels is his greatest achievement–apart from winning a cactus contest. He recently organised an international conference for Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, a challenge which he overcame by being optimistic and realistic about the goals. His happy place is in the lab with his students, or chasing bees and spiders. As a bee specialist, he is currently building up a database of bee pollinators in Thailand, to be linked eventually to the DNA barcoding of every bee species in Thailand in the Bee and Spider Research Unit (BSRU). He also hopes to finish and publish his book on Bees of Thailand.
