Thailand’s leading film critic, Kong Rithdee has written with the Bangkok Post and countless other publications, including several international titles, on the topic for over two decades. A filmmaker himself, Kong has also written and directed a few features, including "Baby Arabia" (2010) and "Island Funeral" (2015). Still highly sought-after for his eloquent expertise on films as well as politics, Kong is also busy assuming the role of deputy director of the Thai Film Archive, a state-funded agency. A humble man to anyone who has ever met him, Kong does take pride in the work of preserving good films, which he poetically equates as the preservation of the memory of an era. For his work, Kong has been award the Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight in the order of Arts and Letters) by the French government.
