Thweep is a strategic consultant and independent scholar with a special interest in the textiles and art history of colonial Burma. The lockdown has allowed him time to finish researching as well as writing photo captions for more than 300 old Burma photos predating 1962, to be published into a photo book in 2022. His next book will hopefully be a compilation of his years of research on Burmese silk tapestry textiles luntaya acheik. The pandemic has also taught him to be more mindful of what he can do, or let go of things beyond his control, and he can proudly say he has finally discovered his true self, his strengths and weaknesses. He has a newfound passion for the ‘interwar period’ (1920s-1940s) when the world expanded exponentially. He is inspired by the compassion of the Dalai Lama, and the taste and vision of the Bawa brothers of Sri Lanka. He enjoys listening to the Thai PBS podcast Mong Adeed (Looking Back into the Past) for its fascinating takeouts from history.
