Photographer Jatenipat, known as JKboy, secured the top prize as the International Portrait Photographer of the Year 2022, marking the pinnacle of a remarkable list of accolades. Over 15 years, he has immersed himself in the lives of 20 of the world's hidden tribes, capturing their images in a cinematic and emotive manner to share with the world. More than just photographs, he unveils their stories, raising awareness about the challenges faced by these minorities and emphasising their role as environmental protectors. The photography project was top of the bucket list of this IT engineering graduate with a profound passion for history, culture, and legends. His journey began with capturing the Mongolian Eagle Hunters in the Altai Mountains, an experience that led to him being named the Cultural Envoy of Mongolia. Prior to each expedition, he meticulously researches each tribe, dedicating time to connect with and earn the trust of his subjects before capturing their photographs. JKboy often presents them with Polaroid images as a keepsake, instilling a sense of pride in their heritage. His expeditions not only yield rare and captivating images but also forge enduring friendships and memories.
