You can’t think of vegan eateries in Bangkok without thinking of Veganerie. Its creator, Napaphatsorn Totienchai or Jajah, was only 20 when she turned a love of baking into a career. Six years on, the vegan entrepreneur now oversees six branches of her restaurant across Bangkok. She is in demand overseas too, being asked to fly as far as Oman to host vegan cooking tutorials for hospitality veterans. In the vanguard of veganism in Thailand, Jajah is responsible for making a plant-based lifestyle look not only achievable but also delicious and cool to a Thai audience. Lately she has been expanding her social media presence, sharing tips and personal stories on her vegan lifestyle. It is all part of the 26-year-old’s credo that building a community is the key to driving a successful social movement.
