Associate Professor Dr. Piyaporn "Jib" Chueamchaitrakun, known as Professor Jib, is the director of the Tea and Coffee Institute at Mae Fah Luang University in Chiang Rai. She has dedicated over a decade to studying tea production processes in various countries, playing a crucial role in transforming Chiang Rai's tea industry. She focuses on supporting local farmers and tea entrepreneurs through research, training and knowledge sharing, with the goal of making Thai tea internationally recognised.
Professor Jib works closely with tea producers to strengthen tea cultivation, processing and quality standards, while also providing guidance to entrepreneurs interested in entering international competitions, including those in Japan. Her research and long-standing commitment to developing Thailand's tea industry were recognised with the CHAllenge Award 2025 from the World Green Tea Association, honouring her contributions to advancing Thai tea on the global stage. Piyaporn aims to continue promoting Thai tea internationally by building its reputation and encouraging greater appreciation of its unique qualities. She hopes to engage more consumers by sharing the stories behind Thai tea and the people who produce it. Through her work, she continues to strengthen Thailand's presence in the global tea industry.
