Gentlemen’s Guide: Bangkok’s 5 Best Barber Shops

Film award red carpets are on a league of their own. Unlike the MET Gala and then on the other end of the spectrum music awards, film awards present aspirational styles that are a bit more timeless and palatable for a wide range of personal aesthetics. Admittedly, I’ve kept less tabs on film awards and celebrities lately than I have in the past, but with the recent British Academy Film Awards, a few accidental peeks at celebrity appearances were enough to make me intrigued. Here are five of the most standout but also accessible beauty looks from the BAFTAs.
Lady Gaga changes up her looks a lot throughout the years and also in one awards season, but one look from her that we don’t mind seeing over and over again is the Old Hollywood glamour style. The side-parted hair wave makes the look. Meanwhile, skin makeup is kept at a minimal, with just a little blush and warm eye shadowing to add some dimension. We love that she went for a more natural lip colour instead of red, which would have pushed the look over to pin-up territory. Classic, opulent high jewelry goes hand-in-hand with this look.
Who says you can’t have a septum ring and still be elegant? Florence Pugh gave us rocker chic in the most glamourous way possible at the BAFTAs, slicking back her short hair and adorning herself with minuscule jewelry anywhere she could above the neck. Notice the attention to detail, from the jewelry in her ear to the crystal droplets strategically set in her hair. She also makes a strong case for bronzing and the dramatic wing eyeliner.

No, not that type of pin-up girl. Emma Watson made fashion headlines at the 75th BAFTAs with this tightly bobby-pinned, center-part hairdo. Not something you regularly see on a film award’s red carpet as far as hairstyles go, it does offer a youthful sense as well as a stylish solution for those of us growing out our bangs.
The red lip is a red carpet staple, but somehow Sienna Miller’s stood out above the rest at the BAFTAs, and I can’t quite put my finger on why. Maybe it’s the relaxed hair and the effortlessness of the makeup. Maybe it’s Maybelline.
Tired of drawing on your eyebrows everyday? Irish actor Caitriona Balfe made it a look. Deceptively minimalistic, she does indeed play up her eyes and lips to pull this off tastefully.
