6 Bag Charms You Can Actually Eat

6 Bag Charms You Can Actually Eat

From mini Japanese mayo bottles to tea bag keychains and Thai seasoning charms, these edible bag accessories put your favourite flavours within reach.

Pantry staples are no longer staying in the kitchen…

These days, the internet is obsessed with quirky little things dangling from bags, and the weirder, the better. From Labubu’s mischievous grin to Fuggler’s gloriously ugly teeth, bag charms have become tiny statements of personality. Cute is good, but a little creepy is even better.

Now, the trend is getting a practical upgrade. Why settle for an accessory that just looks good when it can actually do something, too? Everyday essentials are getting a makeover, with pantry staples transformed into tiny bag decorations full of personality.

From collectible toys to miniature condiments, we’re tracing the trend to Thailand’s own weird and wonderful creations. Because why settle for a charm that just looks good when you could carry your favourite flavours, too?

Where It All Began: When Collectibles Became Bag Essentials

Bag trinkets offer a glimpse into your personality, interests and sense of humour. Pop Mart’s Labubu, alongside Fuggler’s odd characters, has helped turn collectible toys into must-have bag add-ons, thanks to their strange faces and oddly irresistible appeal.

Now, the trend gets a little more animated with Mirumi, a tiny furry robot by Yukai Engineering. Clipped onto bag handles or straps, it turns its head and reacts when you pet it or someone comes close. First unveiled as a prototype at CES 2025, Mirumi is now available by preorder. With its teddy bear-like exterior and shy, programmed movements, it brings the whimsy of a plush toy to life in an interactive little companion.

When the Trend Got a Little Stranger: Who Knew Your Tea Bag Could Accessorise?

Some of the most talked-about designs blur the line between everyday essentials and bag add-ons. Rhode’s viral phone case, with its built-in holder for the brand’s lip gloss, shows how beauty products can become part of the look. The brand later added a blush with a looped cap that clips onto bags or keys.

In South Korea, Gentle Monster has made eyewear part of the trend with compact sunglasses pouches that attach to bags, while Tamburins, its family brand, offers fragrances and lip balms in charm-friendly formats.

Loewe’s Thailand-exclusive dok khun keychain gives the bag-collectible trend a functional twist, with a design that doubles as a holder for a Thai herbal inhaler. Available in bright yellow and green, the mini bag add-on takes inspiration from the Ratchaphruek, also known as dok khun (Cassia fistula), Thailand’s national flower.

It’s a fresh take on the trend, with everyday essentials turned into eye-catching bag add-ons that serve a practical purpose, too.

Things Are Getting a Little Saucy

Pantry staples and mini drinks now have a second life as bag add-ons, with designs that blur the line between everyday essentials and fashion accessories. Some serve a practical purpose, while others are simply too good not to show off. Either way, the bag-charm craze keeps getting more unexpected.

1. Candy Goes Couture: Fendi x Chupa Chups

Fendi took the lollipop from the candy aisle to the runway for its Fall/Winter 2024 show, with a miniature leather case shaped like the house’s iconic saddle bag and a magnetic snap closure. The set came with five lollipops wrapped in Fendi’s signature FF motif, one for each of the five Fendi sisters. This playful collision of high fashion and childhood nostalgia became a standout Milan Fashion Week collectible, though it has since sold out. Sweet, stylish and far from your average candy stash.

2. An Emergency Cup of Tea: Twinings

For anyone who never wants to be caught without a cuppa, Twinings has a solution. The brand introduced a limited-edition tea bag charm, a tiny clip-on pouch that holds any tea bag, with a clear window that lets everyone see your chosen blend. It’s a clever little answer to that all-too-familiar craving for tea when you’re nowhere near the kettle.

3. A Little Mayo to Go: Cabi Foods

Cabi Foods took Japanese mayo out of the kitchen and onto your bag with its mini mayo trinket, a set of three tiny bottles in miso, wasabi and spicy flavours. Made in Japan with free-range eggs with orange yolks and rice bran oil, each bottle holds real mayo that you can squeeze out and eat. The accessories quickly sold out, a clear sign that some people want their favourite condiments close at hand. Clip it onto your bag and keep it chilled until your next snack calls for a little extra sauce.

4.  A Mini Drink with Main-Character Energy: 818 Tequila

Kendall Jenner’s 818 Tequila introduced 50ml bottles as bag miniatures on their own trinket, then took the idea further with limited-edition collectible bundles featuring 818 mini bag keepsakes designed to hold the miniature bottles. The concept brings to mind vintage silver hip flasks and novelty liquor containers, including the classic hard-boiled character flask, now reimagined as a whimsical accessory for a new generation. It’s a playful twist on the old-school drinking accessory, with a mini bottle that deserves a spot on your bag.

5. A Little Heat on Your Keyring (Not Edible): Sephora x Tabasco

This one isn’t edible!! But spoiler alert: it does contain a real ingredient from chilli peppers. Sephora and Tabasco turned up the heat with a tiny Tabasco-shaped keyring that holds chilli-infused lip gloss formulated with Capsicum frutescens fruit extract. The gloss gives lips a little tingle, with extreme heat as the hottest shade.

Each one comes in a collectible silicone case inspired by the iconic Tabasco brand labels, complete with a keyring and chilli ornament.

6. Thailand’s Quick Flavour Boost: Nguan Soon No.1 Hand Brand

Thailand has entered the bag-charm craze with a little extra seasoning. Nguan Soon No.1 Hand Brand’s condiment keychains turn three familiar seasonings, salt, white pepper and chilli powder, into miniature replicas of the bottles you’d find on a Thai dining table. Made for those who like their food with a little extra kick, the tiny bottles can hang from your bag and come in handy whenever a meal needs a quick flavour boost. Because some people carry lip gloss; others come prepared for a bowl of noodles.
