Taste the world in Bangkok. Koktail Kuisine spotlights 9 top restaurants, spanning American steaks, Japanese teppanyaki, Thai-Malay fare and more.

Sure, Bangkok’s street stalls with their local flavours deserve every bit of hype, but taking its multi-national dining scene for granted would be a mistake. The city really thrives on global culinary fusion, turning every meal into a globe-trotting adventure.

This edition Koktail Kuisine will take your taste buds worldwide with these nine restaurants in Bangkok. We are talking American steaks, Japanese teppanyaki, Thai-Malay plates and French seafood. It’s wildly cosmopolitan over here, so grab a fork and dive in.

Caper by Dan Bark

Gatsby-era style meets Chef Dan’s playful American shared plates, inspiring a mood to “caper” over spicy chicken wings, lamb tenderloin and boozy banana bread

If you adore the 1920s American world of flappers, The Great Gatsby and all that jazz with a side of casual plate-sharing ritual, you will find Caper by Dan Bark to be quite a charming spot. The interiors are decked out in Art Deco style, but not flashily so. Chef Dan Bark brings his Chicago-schooled culinary experience to a more relaxed setting that reflects the name of the restaurant: Caper, or to skip, to dance about. You cannot go wrong with chicken wings as starters, with either buffalo ranch or Szechuan with honey Dijon. Follow with Hokkaido scallops alongside barley risotto or lamb tenderloin with kale, pickled mulberries and candied hazelnuts. Conclude your evening with a tipsy-turvy treat: banana bread crowned with bacon ice cream and rum maple syrup.

225 Soi Pridi Banomyong 25, Khlong Toei Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok. Tel: +66 83 783 4867. Open Wed-Sun from 5pm-9.30pm and Sat-Sun from 12pm-2pm.

Char

Chef Benz commands an open grill high above the clouds, matching skyline views with European classics and flame-seared beef sourced from France, the US and Australia

Positioned 25 storeys into the clouds, Char offers an elevated take (quite literally) on premium European grilling overlooking Bangkok’s expansive horizon. Beyond the seductive skyline vistas – ideal for romantic outings or relaxed friend gatherings – lies Executive Chef Surasak “Benz” Charoenchane’s fiery kitchen precision. It is all about the open flame here, showing off everything from tender French chateaubriand to prime US grain-fed and Australian black angus cuts. Start off easy with a few lighter dishes like wagyu carpaccio, burrata salad or beef ravioli in a rich truffle consommé. Once you have warmed up, dig into the main event: beautifully charred, flame-seared steaks paired with custom sides and rich sauces tailored just for you.

Chesa Swiss Cuisine

Transporting you straight to the snowy Alps, classic Swiss gastronomy goes beyond fondue with slow-roasted lamb shoulder, potato rösti and regional Swiss vintages

Bangkok is not exactly overflowing with genuine Swiss restaurants. While fondue exists, it rarely comes with any real sense of origin. Chesa Swiss Cuisine restores that connection, showcasing Swiss gastronomy way beyond the fondue pot. Inside, the snug atmosphere transports you straight to the snowy Alps. The kitchen relies on straightforward comfort classics, cooking up mushroom ravioli in white wine cream sauce, garlic-rubbed slow-roasted lamb shoulder paired with potato rösti, and plenty of gooey, melted cheese dishes. Wrap up with a crisp, caramelised crème brûlée and do not skip the drink menu; it boasts over 60 wines, including Swiss vintages.

57 Sukhumvit Soi 34, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Tel: +66 2 261 6650. Open daily from 11am-10.30pm.

KiSara

Spanning traditional kotatsu floor-seating and teppanyaki counters, Japanese culinary precision shines through signature kaiseki and 10-course lobster omakase menus

KiSara at Conrad Bangkok takes classic Japanese precision and presents it across multiple dining styles, whether you prefer kotatsu floor-seating, table service, or counter seats right at the sushi and teppanyaki stations. Alongside à la carte options, multi-course menus steal the spotlight, ranging from a lobster-focused 10-course omakase to a dynamic teppanyaki experience. The teppanyaki feast kicks off with seasonal appetisers, fresh sashimi, savoury chawanmushi and a beautifully arranged nine-item vegetable and meat seasonal platter. Then choose your main,  either melt-in-your-mouth Japanese wagyu or Ise lobster, before settling into the final stretch: aromatic garlic fried rice, pickles, miso soup and desserts.

Ox & Embers Steak Club & Cellar

When ox meets embers inside a wine-lined space, American steakhouse cooking gets an Italian twist, yielding Josper-grilled premium hits and delicate royal uni toast

What actually happens when “Ox” meets “Embers” inside a jazz-chic, wine-lined space? The answer is pure, juicy deliciousness. This American steakhouse carries an Italian twist and a kind of culinary upbeat tempo centred around a fiery Josper grill. Indulgence starts early with royal uni toast, chargrilled octopus, wagyu tacos and a raw bar stacked with Hokkaido uni and lobster. Italian notes pop up in spaghetti aglio e olio royal, loaded with bafun uni, ikura and tiger prawns. Then come the main events: beef cuts scaling up to a massive 1.5kg Australian black angus tomahawk, served with truffle or black pepper sauces and smoky sides like charcoal-smoked corn and Josper-grilled asparagus.

68/2 Sukhumvit Soi 20, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Tel: +66 81 978 3344. Open Mon-Fri from 4pm-12am and Sat-Sun from 12pm-12am.

Pagoda Chinese Restaurant

Delivering emperor-worthy quality in a welcoming family atmosphere, this Chinese haunt serves up dim sum staples, three-course Peking duck and mud crab sticky rice

Some dinners are only fit for an emperor, but at Pagoda Chinese Restaurant, a family feast comes with that same imperial quality. While the interior goes big on fortune symbols and dragon decor, the atmosphere stays as welcoming as an old-school family get-together. Lunch keeps things simple with dim sum staples like steamed dumplings, crisp prawn rolls and pork buns, alongside sweet barbecued pork and Chinese tea. The three-course Peking duck is a table favourite: sliced skin and meat in pancakes with melon, cucumber and spring onion, followed by roasted duck legs, then a ginger and spring onion stir-fry. Finish with lotus-leaf mud crab sticky rice, packed with sweet crabmeat.

4th Floor, Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, 199 Sukhumvit Soi 22, Khlong Tan, Khlong Toei, Bangkok. Tel: +66 2 059 5999. Open daily from 11.30am-2.30pm and 6pm-10pm.

Phukej

Fusing Yaowarat spirit with Phuket heritage, Chef Korn crafts punchy, Malay-influenced Southern Thai plates, from rich duck breast to spicy crab curry

Yes, you read that right. Phukej is not actually in Phuket, but right here in Bangkok. Housed in a faded mint-green building on Mangkon Road, the restaurant’s standout trait is its deep sense of place, creating a bridge between Yaowarat’s old-school spirit and Old Town Phuket’s artistic history. Chef-owner Thapakorn “Korn” Lertviriyavit keeps guests rooted in this regional context, exploring Southern Thai food through its Malay, Peranakan and Chinese connections. The menu leans right into these roots with scallop-pomelo charcoal cups, duck breast with shiso, stink-bean prawns, rich Phuket pork belly and spicy crab curry with rice noodles, closing with chestnut mousse or plum-dusted Aiyu jelly.

730 Mangkon Rd, Pom Prap, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok. Tel: +66 81 983 6650. Open Wed-Mon from 11.30am-3pm and 4.30pm-10pm.

Submerged in deep-blue neon, this neo-brasserie champions French seafood with catches flown from Brittany, alongside Alaskan king crab and Japanese scallops

This neo-brasserie is hyper-focused on seafood, serving up oceanic delicacies with fresh catches flown in up to three times a week from Brittany, alongside Alaskan king crab and Japanese scallops. The seafood platter is a direct highlight, laden with fresh oysters, scallop horseradish and blue prawn cocktail. You can also dig into horse mackerel sashimi in aji amarillo clam sauce, tender rib-eye hanger steak with crisp fries, or linguine packed with Japanese Asari clams and bottarga. To close, Guanaja dark chocolate tart with caramel and pecan delivers boundless decadence.

Xin Tian Di Restaurant

Towering 22 storeys high, warmth, elegance and spinning Lazy Susans drive an unforgettable family feast built around an all-you-can-eat dim sum spread

Xin Tian Di captures that wonderful Chinese family banquet energy high above Bangkok on the 22nd floor. Soft lighting and Spinning Lazy Susans dial up the atmospheric warmth for passing food around the table. The big draw here is the all-you-can-eat dim sum buffet featuring over 35 selections, available for both lunch and dinner until the end of the year. But the main menu holds its own with several highlights: deep-fried taro stuffed with roasted pork that hits a contrast between mesh and meat, alongside an addictive oatmeal-and-butter eggplant. After the signature Peking duck makes its grand entrance, round things off with straightforward Fukien noodles packed with shrimp and duck.
