Actor Tom Holland reveals his favourite UK Thai restaurant. Get the address and opening times for The Cocoanut pub in Kingston upon Thames here.

Tom Holland might have a connection to Thailand that is deeper than you think. No, we’re not talking about his role in The Impossible (2012), which was set during the 2004 tsunami in Khao Lak. We’re talking about his love for Thai food!

While making pizzas for a NYT interview on 14 July to promote Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey (2026) with his on-screen father, Matt Damon, Holland recommended a local spot, sharing that his family’s favourite restaurant in Kingston upon Thames is a Thai place called The Cocoanut.

Part pup-friendly pub and part Thai kitchen, The Cocoanut is a third-generation, family-run business that has been open since 2010. The menu sticks to straightforward, flavour-packed staples like pad kra pao, glass noodle salad, garlic pepper fried rice, pad Thai and rich curries, with vegetarian options listed on their website.

Tom isn’t the only one hooked on the place. His brother Sam, who also starred in The Impossible, dropped by back in 2024. The restaurant clearly knows its stuff when it comes to authentic dining etiquette, too. They even posted on Instagram to remind everyone that Thai people don’t typically use chopsticks, but instead use a fork to push food onto a spoon held in the dominant hand.

If you are in the UK and keen to give it a try, you can find The Cocoanut at 16 Mill Street, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey KT1 2RF. Swing by Monday to Saturday between midday and 3pm, or for dinner from 6pm to 11pm.
