Aerobics and the Rise of Young Bangkokians at Lumphini

After a brief slumber, the Bangkok Horror Film Festival is now back to haunt the capital once again, as announced on Facebook by the Thai Film Director Association. This year’s fright fest will take place from 13–15 March on the sixth floor of Hua Lamphong Post Office.
Earlier reports suggested the screenings might take place at the abandoned New World Mall in Bang Lamphu, which certainly would have nailed the horror aesthetic. Still, the post office is hardly lacking in creepiness. With its timeworn interiors (possibly haunted by old parcels and dead letters), the venue is most suited for a weekend of horror films.
While film screenings remain the main draw, the scares won’t stop when the credits roll. Moviegoers can wander through a haunted-house exhibition inspired by the films shown, listen to spooky behind-the-scenes stories from film crews, catch a short-film competition and sit in on conversations with directors and actors. There’ll also be food, live music and plenty of other fun activities to keep the vibe going.
The festival is organised by Wizard Production, Bison Idea Co., Ltd., Bangkok Klang Plaeng, the Thai Film Director Association and Documentary Club, in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and Neverland. It is supported by the Department of Cultural Promotion under the Ministry of Culture.
The festival aims to spotlight emerging directorial voices while also revisiting the work of past masters whose films may have slipped from public memory. Like Frankenstein’s creature, the world of Thai horror is set to crackle back to life.
Admission is free of charge.
