2 iconic Bangkok locations featured in Lisa’s latest solo music video, “Rockstar.”

Blackpink member Lisa is set to release her new solo single “Rockstar” under her own company, Lloud Co., in partnership with RCA Records. She recently shared a 10-second snippet of the song’s music video, showcasing her strutting through city streets at night.

The teaser quickly gained attention, becoming the fastest K-pop act to reach 10 million views on Instagram within 1 hour and 2 minutes.

The music video teaser highlights several famous locations in Bangkok, Thailand, such as Yaowarat (Chinatown) and the abandoned Oscar Theater. Fans eagerly await the full release on June 28th. Here’s a closer look at the featured locations.

1/2 Yaowarat Road (Chinatown)

The music video prominently features Yaowarat Road, which is Thailand’s largest Chinatown community. The production reportedly involved 100 Thai dancers and required the closure of Yaowarat Road for filming from 2:00 to 5:00 a.m. for three consecutive nights.

A notable scene was shot in front of Jumama restaurant, and one of the store signs prominently featured in the teaser is yellow with red letters in Thai that reads “Cheeow Choon Saw Thao”, located near the Charoen Krung intersection.

Yaowarat Road, developed during King Rama V’s era to boost trade, is now globally renowned as a food haven. It offers both indoor and roadside eateries with diverse cuisines, fresh markets, and dry goods stalls. The area is known for its Chinese attire and major festivals like Chinese New Year and the Vegetarian Festival. It also showcases religious diversity with Buddhist, Christian, Islamic temples, and Chinese shrines.

2/2 The Oscar Theater

The Oscar Theater, located in the labyrinthine alleys of Petchburi Road Soi 39, is another featured location. This area is known for karaoke halls, and massage parlours. The theatre opened in 1976 as an independent cinema and thrived until its closure in the early 2000s.

The theatre is now available only for film shooting and has previously been used by other artists, including K-pop girl group Aespa for their music video “Armageddon.”
