The tennis star together with Saniyya Sydney, the actress who plays young Venus in ‘King Richard’, are the faces of Lacoste

Combining garments from two collections, Spring/Summer 2022 and Fall/Winter 2022, the new Lacoste campaign starring Venus Williams and Saniyya Sydney, the actress who portrays a young Venus in the Academy Award-winning film King Richard, makes a strong case for plain tees and sweats. A very strong case. I mean it is Venus Williams, seven-time Grand Slam winner, former world no. 1 in singles and doubles, and one of the GOATs of the sport.

The new campaign shot by Irish photographer Ronan Gallagher also highlights a spunky commercial directed by budding creative duo Kenten, wherein Williams and Sydney playfully mirror each other’s swagger, styling one of the featured sports jackets. The short film was apparently inspired by Venus’ famed courtside dancing. Watch it below: 

The campaign certainly leaves us wanting to invest in some cream- or pastel-colored sweats and hoodies and pair them with tennis shoes and socks immediately, regardless of whether it makes sense for the weather or our current lifestyle. The Williams sister’s coolness is just more important.
