Industry : The Arts

A composer, pianist, and artist, Anothai Nitibhon received a PhD in composition from the University of Edinburgh. Anothai’s proudest achievement was being honoured with the Silpathorn Award 2021 for music. Her music research originates from intercultural dialogues, integrating professional music training, elements of folk-based oral tradition with both professional musicians and people who have no musical background. Orchestras and ensembles in many
countries have performed her compositions. Anothai often appears as a judge for composition and performance competitions both in Thailand and overseas. In 2016, Anothai organised influential exhibits in Bangkok, such as the “Hear Here” sound installation at the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre and “AS((EAR))N - Sounds of ASEAN” at the Museum Siam. Composing and performing has been an integral part of Anothai’s life, and her long-term goal is to inspire the younger generations in creating more music for social projects as well as pushing the boundaries of musical creations, whether it’s interdisciplinary collaborations or community engagement.
