Comprising seven musicians—Tontrakul Kaewyong, Narisara Sakpunjachot, Phoowich Tawasinchanadech, Thitirat Dilokhattakarn, Kritamet Kittiboonyatiwakron, Preeda Kesdee, Suntorn Duangdang—and one singer, Amornphat Sermsap, Asia7 combines Thai contemporary, fusion, jazz, pop and world music into an ear-pleasing genre that highlights its Asian roots. Instruments include saw Thai fiddle, Isan folk instruments, saxophone, guitar, keyboard, bass and drums, with electronic embellishments. Meeting up as students of Mahidol University’s music department, they all wanted to add novelty to the local music industry and began performing in restaurants and events. They made their debut in 2016 at the Thailand International Jazz Conference. The following year saw them perform at the ACC World Music Festival in Gwangju, South Korea, followed by an extensive world tour that helped them confirm their identity. They have produced several singles that vary between instrumental and vocal music, and have also collaborated with local and international artists. They are now contracted to GMM Grammy and recently represented Thailand via online concerts at the Seoul Friendship Festival 2021.
