Kammao Phiprainn aka Kammao Perdtanon, the renowned Phin player of The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, has been dubbed as Thailand’s Jimmy Hendrix of Phin. Born in Roi Et province of Isan, from a long lineage of Phin artists, he was taught to play the instrument by his father from the age of 2, and was performing locally by the age of 9. In 1985 he visited Bangkok looking for gigs & recording deals, and released his first solo on cassette tapes in 1986. This was followed by film appearances, game shows and tours with several molam legends. Among the numerous accolades are Nakkaraj Thongkam, Kom Chad Luek Award, Royal Medal from the Supreme Patriarch, as well as the opportunity to perform for HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. In 2008 he began a new career as an Isan music teacher at Mahidol University. In 2013, he joined The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band, whose live shows credentials are off the charts including Worldwide Festival, OFF, Field Day, Glastonbury and Fuji Rock. The band’s LP albums "21st Century Molam”, "Planet Lam" and “Araya Lam” have all been well received.
