CentralWorld Unveils Thailand’s First Tesla Supercharger

Becoming an EV-friendly city is one step towards tackling Bangkok’s pollution problems

CentralWorld, one of the largest shopping malls in the world, has officially introduced Thailand’s first ever Tesla Supercharger to their parking infrastructure. As the EV lifestyle grows in popularity, infrastructure has to meet the growing demand. So it makes sense to see new options installed in the city.

The launch of the Supercharger station marks an important step for Tesla’s expansion into the Southeast Asian market. What concerned Bangkokians most regarding electric vehicle adoption was that there wouldn’t be enough charging stations. But with its first station launched, it seems like the company is pretty serious about increasing accessibility for EV drivers in Thailand.

Along with a Tesla pop-up store, the station has a total of nine superchargers that are available 24/7. Apart from its convenient location in the heart of Bangkok city, it offers high-speed charging up to 250kW.

As the number of electric vehicles in Thailand increases, Central shopping malls plan to continue supporting their use with dedicated EV charging infrastructures. Moreover, 38 Central shopping malls are ready to work together with partners in order to increase charging stations. With a goal to expand over 400 charging slots, branches with EV charging stations include CentralWorld, Central Eastville, Central Village, Central Chaengwattana, Central Pinklao, Central Rama 2, Central Bangna, Central Salaya, Central Korat, Central Udon Thani, and Central Chiang Mai.
