Bangkok Design Week is back from 4–12 February for its sixth edition, this year presented under the theme of “urban-NICE-zation”.
As cities transform into megacities, problems like overcrowding, environmental concerns, resource management, and social inequality intensify on a daily basis. These fundamental challenges of any large urban centre are the foundation of this year’s exhibitions, installations, and interventions, each seeing Bangkok staged as a huge playground to bounce ideas around, to promote a better-balanced city for everyone.
BKKDW2023 will be held in nine districts, including Charoenkrung—Talad Noi, Yaowarat, Samyan—Siam, Ari—Pradipat, Phra Nakhon—Pak Khlong Talat—Nang Loeng, Wongwian Yai—Talat Phlu, Khlong San, Bang Pho, Phrom Phong, Kaset, and other areas. Each district will host online and offline activities under the following categories:
Showcases and exhibitions of tangible concepts and prototypes developed by creators of various fields to create new ways of living.
Talks and workshops in online format by Thai and international creative thinkers to share knowledge and inspire new ideas to the audiences.
Diverse events and programs ranging from musical performances, movie screenings, and performing art, as well as events and open houses, all forming a part of the city’s celebration of creativity.
A creative market platform promoted online and offline to encourage sales and business opportunities for creatives in the city, and the promotion of existing creative outlets in the featured districts.
