For Pokchat Worasub, the human body is never merely a physical presence. It carries desire, identity and the weight of social perception, revealing as much about the world around it as the individual it represents.

Based in Bangkok, Pokchat completed a Master of Visual Arts at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang in 2014. Her photographs often position the figure within unfamiliar surroundings, moving beyond conventional portraiture to explore gesture, intimacy and the shifting relationship between subject and viewer. Her work has been exhibited in Thailand and internationally, including at TARS Gallery in Bangkok and Objectifs in Singapore. In 2020, she was nominated to represent Thailand for the Leica Oskar Barnack Award.

More recently, her attention has expanded from the individual body towards the cultural forces shaping beauty, identity and belonging. A project focusing on the Mani people explored their visual culture, beliefs and distinctive way of life. Presented at the Bangkok Art Biennale, the series offered a considered portrayal of a community still relatively unfamiliar to many wider audiences in Thailand.

This progression gives Pokchat’s practice an increasing breadth: intimate questions of how bodies are seen now sit within a wider enquiry into who determines that gaze and why. Alongside her photographic work, she serves as a guest instructor at Thai universities, extending that thoughtful examination of representation to a new generation.
