Before the big Bangkok Climate Action Week rolls around in October, Climate Citizen – Economy We Shape, Climate We Share takes over the Jim Thompson Art Center on 22 August from 9.30am to 7pm. Dropping in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and a host of key partners, it gathers visionaries and leaders across various industries to see how we can team up for both people and the planet.
The opening panel kicks off with “How Can a New Economy Help Create a Better Environment?” featuring Sanan Angubolkul (Chairman, AFS Thailand Foundation), Thapanee Kiatphaibool (Governor, Tourism Authority of Thailand), Chadchart Sittipunt (Governor of Bangkok) and Leo Horn-Pathnothai (Founder, BKKCAW Organizing Committee) to explore how a planet-friendly economy can turn everyday progress into green growth.
Right after, there is a special chat on finding the spark to drive climate action, featuring Weerasak Kowsurat (Board Member and Secretary-General of the Friends in Need (of PA) Volunteers Foundation, Thai Red Cross Society), Theerapat Trungprakan from Patara Elephant Farm, musician Note Panayanggool (aka NOTEP) and Thitawan Kaesonsombat. Come evening, grab a brew for Open Circle: Coffee & Climate Talk with Bangkok Deputy Governor Pornphrom Vikitsreth. To wrap things up, dive into lively Fishbowl Discussions covering everything from energy transition and health to arts, culture and education, featuring Piriya Kulganchanacheewin (License Holder and Curator of TEDxBangkok).
Additionally, there will be art performances by Sai Pattaraporn and Microboat taking place during registration with their piece “BETWEEN US & EARTH”, curated by BioReverb — telling stories together through trees, paintbrushes, colour, instruments and music. Bring your friends along, throw on your best earth tones (obviously) and head over to the Jim Thompson Art Center, just a short hop from National Stadium BTS Station.
