July wears green well.
Rain wakes up forests, fills rice fields and reminds us that every season of growth starts somewhere. Naturally, we got Kurious and asked Thai celebrities one simple question: If you could plant just one thing this rainy season, what would it be and why?
Their answers aren’t always about flowers or trees. Some would plant dreams, others memories and a few choose something you might never expect. Together, they reveal what each person hopes will grow with time.
An Olive Tree of His Own
“I don’t really know many tree names, but I think I’d choose an olive tree.”
A Second Chance
“If I had to plant something again, I’d probably choose roses. They’re so difficult to grow, but I think rainy season would probably help.”
A Tree Called Love
“I’d probably choose a Ton Rak, or crown flower. That way, I could share a little more love with everyone.”
A Colourful Companion
“I’d choose an Aglaonema. In Thailand, we call it waan. It’s very easy to grow and comes in lots of beautiful colours.”
Gardening Isn’t for Everyone
“Everything I grow dies. I couldn’t even get bean sprouts to grow. I once got a 25-year-old bonsai for my birthday, and it died the following year. If it’s going to rain, then let it rain. I’m not planting anything.”
Beauty in Motion
“I love willow trees. Whenever the wind blows, their branches are always moving. I think one would look beautiful at home.”
A Cottage Garden Dream
“I’d choose petunias. They’re edible flowers, so you can use them to decorate food, and they also give off a lovely cottage garden feel.”
Leaving It to Mum
“Fun fact: I’m terrible at growing plants. I can’t even keep a cactus alive. At the moment, my mum’s growing a purple wreath, so I’m cheering her on and hoping it blooms beautifully.”
Miniature Wonders
“I don’t really know much about plants, but I’ve always wanted to grow a bonsai. They’re just so tiny and cute.”
Sunshine in Every Petal
“I’d choose chrysanthemum. No, actually, chamomile. To be honest, I love any flower with a yellow centre and white petals. You can also dry the flowers and make a lovely cup of tea with them.”
