THE BARAI HUA HIN has entered a new chapter as Thailand’s first property to join The Unbound Collection by Hyatt. Originally established more than 20 years ago as one of the country’s best known destination spas, the beachfront retreat at Khao Takiab has now been reimagined as a 98 room boutique wellness resort.
The transformation builds on THE BARAI’s reputation for combining Thai healing traditions with contemporary wellness. Alongside its signature spa, the resort now offers guest rooms and suites inspired by the four natural elements of earth, water, fire and air, with architecture that draws on Thai heritage, nature and the spirit of sanook.
Wellness remains central to the experience. At the heart of the resort is THE BARAI Spa, named after the ancient barays, vast reservoirs that once sustained daily life in historic empires. Designed with pools, courtyards, stone passageways and quiet spaces, the spa encourages guests to slow down and reconnect. Beyond the spa, personalised programmes focus on sleep recovery, longevity, emotional wellbeing, women’s health and back care, alongside yoga, holistic therapies and wellness practices.
Dining also draws on Hua Hin’s history. White Cottage serves seasonal seafood and Thai inspired dishes, while the restored McFarland House, a 19th century beachfront pavilion once belonging to Dr George Bradley McFarland, offers Modern European cuisine overlooking the Gulf of Thailand.
