Writers get residencies to write books, so it’s only fair we get a reader residency to actually finish them.

PRY1, a forest retreat in Prachin Buri, is taking applications for their Reader in Residence 2026. They’re offering a 4-day, 3-night escape near Khao Yai National Park, giving you the perfect excuse to tackle your to-be-read pile without the outside world interrupting.

If selected, you can bring a fellow bookworm to tag along for free room and board with breakfast included, plus a THB 2,000 dining credit for VAYA Kitchen right on the property. And if you’re scatterbrained enough to embark on a literary escape and forget the actual books, you can just raid ‘bulbul in the woods’, the resort’s on-site library.

All that’s asked in return? Inspire other book lovers. Within a week after your stay, post at least one piece of content per platform sharing why you chose that particular book for PRY1. Reels, photos, short essays – total creative freedom is yours.

Which is perfect if the goal is getting readers out into the wild. True reading demands the right environment; to the sensualists, aesthetes and modern-day Thoreaus and Emersons, a crowded, noisy city simply won’t cut it.

Applications are open until 31 July, with selected guests notified by email on 12 August. Your 4-day escape can be scheduled anywhere from 7 through 30 September.
