As part of this vision, the hotel hosted Rooftop Street Art Fight on its rooftop from 21 to 28 March. The event transformed the rooftop into an open-air canvas, showcasing street art as an accessible and powerful form of expression that inspires creative responses to global challenges.
“We are honoured to have provided this platform for such extraordinary young talent and we hope this initiative inspires not only our guests but our entire community,”
said Dieter Ruckenbauer, General Manager at Le Méridien Bangkok.
Over a week, contestants brought the rooftop to life, with blank canvases placed across the space for artists to explore their creativity. On 28 March, Le Méridien Bangkok announced the winning team from Satit International Bilingual School of Rangsit University Chiangmai (SIBS), led by mentor Sahahpanh Prapaipanich.
Under the theme Colour and Sustainability, their work which depicts a maiden with animals symbolises youth and hope for a sustainable future. The piece reflects harmony with nature and the protection of biodiversity, using colour as a visual language to express life while highlighting the social and environmental challenges of today’s urban landscape.
The award ceremony and dinner took place as artists, partners and guests gathered on the rooftop among the completed works. Street food-style dining reflected the project’s emphasis on openness, inclusivity and shared experience.
Proceeds from Rooftop Street Art Fight will be donated to the Thai Red Cross Society to support underprivileged patients and communities, reflecting Le Méridien Bangkok’s commitment to giving back. Key sponsors included Sherwin-Williams, Bangkok Vodka, Phraya Rum, Chang, EST and Italasia.
As part of AWC, the hotel also launched The GALLERY, a social enterprise marketplace in the lobby that connects local artisans with a wider audience. It showcases products celebrating Thai craftsmanship and cultural heritage, with all proceeds supporting artists and over 302 local communities across Thailand.
