Blackpink and Lalisa Manoban fans worldwide, but especially in Thailand, have been waiting for the premiere of Lisa’s solo work since the pop star teased it on her social media two weeks ago. Today was finally that day, and what a bang of a premiere it was. Released on YouTube only a couple of hours ago, at the time of writing, the music video for Lisa’s self-titled song, Lalisa, has been watched more than 12 million times. In true Blackpink fashion, the clip slaps with the highest level of production, from choreo, camera angles and sets, to the eye-catching fashion.
One outfit that caught the attention of Thai “Blinks” and “Lillies” in particular though, was a golden number designed by Thailand’s own Asava. A big shoutout to the K-Pop star’s home country in the last third of the music video, the modernized Thai silk ensemble features a one-shoulder top and shortened drape skirt juxtaposed by a lavishly long cape. Asava designer Polpat Asavaprapha created the combo from brocade golden silk bearing the traditional pattern of Lamphun Province. The outfit is further embellished by hand with Swarovski crystals and in the music video, Lisa styles it with plenty of golden jewelry and her matching golden hair.
Sung in Korean and English, Lalisa is simply an anthem of Lisa’s success and stardom for her adoring fans. The singer has said in a press conference that she hopes that when people hear the song, they think “‘Wow, this is it. This is something only Lisa can do.’”
