As many already know, Song Wat continues to cement its reputation as one of Bangkok’s most exciting neighbourhoods. What used to be a stretch of old shophouses by the river is now a mix of small community life and carefully placed new spaces, where cafés and global names sit on the same everyday streets.
This month alone, three highly anticipated openings have added even more energy to the district, each bringing something distinct while still fitting into the character of the area.
One of Bangkok’s most recognised matcha brands has chosen Song Wat for its newest location. The fifth branch of MTCH™ stands out immediately with its distinctive design. From the outside, visitors are greeted by a large glass structure, while inside sits a smaller tea house inspired by traditional Japanese architecture.
Unlike the brand’s familiar green identity, this branch introduces a fresh blue colour palette that appears throughout the space. The result feels modern and perfectly suited to the creative atmosphere of Song Wat.
Regulars will find many of the signature drinks they already know and love, alongside a few additions created specifically for this branch, with the Sora Iro matcha latte expected to be a crowd favourite. Whether you are a dedicated matcha fan or simply looking for a stylish stop during a walk around the neighbourhood, MTCH™ Song Wat is likely to become one of the area’s most popular addresses.
Another major arrival in Song Wat comes from adidas Originals, which has unveiled a new flagship store overlooking the Chao Phraya River.
The store has been designed as a gathering point for fashion, street culture and community events. The building features elements of the neighbourhood’s historic character with contemporary interiors that reflect the brand’s identity. Inside, shoppers will find the latest adidas Originals collections alongside interactive features including a Maker Lab and a photobooth. The store will also host a series of cultural events, from live DJ sessions to community driven activities that celebrate music, art and self expression.
A highlight for collectors is an exclusive graphic T shirt collection created in collaboration with Thai illustrator NUTKAI, available only at the Song Wat branch.
Coffee lovers have another reason to visit Song Wat. Global café brand % Arabica has opened its newest Bangkok location on the upper floor of the new adidas Originals store.
The setting offers a different experience from the brand’s other branches. Floor to ceiling windows frame sweeping views of the Chao Phraya River, creating an atmosphere that encourages visitors to slow down and stay awhile.
The minimalist design that % Arabica is known for remains, but the riverside location gives this branch its own personality. It is equally suited to a quick coffee break, a casual meeting or an afternoon spent watching boats pass by on the river. Adding to the appeal, the branch also features special menu items created in partnership with adidas Originals, making it a destination for both coffee enthusiasts and lifestyle seekers.
