Inside MARINE and the Making of PIPATCHARA’s Latest Collection

Koktail visits PIPATCHARA’s atelier for an exclusive look at MARINE, a collection that transforms abandoned fishing nets into contemporary fashion through craft, innovation and sustainability.

On World Environment Day, Koktail was invited inside PIPATCHARA’s atelier for an exclusive first look at MARINE, the latest collection by designer Pipatchara “Petch” Kaeojinda and a continuation of the brand’s focus on sustainability through design.

Officially unveiled during PIPATCHARA MARINE The First Reveal on 5 June, the collection takes inspiration from the sea and one of its most pressing environmental challenges: abandoned fishing nets. Often referred to as ghost nets, these discarded materials account for a share of marine plastic pollution, remaining in oceans for decades while continuing to threaten marine ecosystems and wildlife.

At the heart of MARINE is the idea of transformation. Through craftsmanship, material innovation and design, Petch reimagines discarded fishing nets as contemporary fashion pieces that carry both aesthetic value and environmental purpose.

Inside the atelier, shelves of recycled materials offered an insight into the experimentation that underpins the brand’s creative process. Alongside fishing nets were bottle caps, water tank components, Tupperware and even saline bottles, each undergoing a different journey from waste material to design element. The collection highlights how different plastics respond uniquely to heat, colour and production techniques, requiring extensive research and innovation to achieve the desired results.

One of the collection’s defining materials featured in MARINE is recycled fishing net nylon. Originally transparent, the material gradually develops a yellow hue through exposure to environmental conditions. Through recycling processes and the addition of recycled pigments, it is transformed into a vibrant palette that demonstrates both the possibilities and complexities of working with reclaimed materials.

The collection also marks an evolution for the brand. Building on previous explorations with recycled fishing nets, PIPATCHARA has expanded its material vocabulary by introducing certified sustainable leather alongside its signature recycled components. Beyond sustainability, MARINE also embodies the brand’s philosophy of Worn Without Rules. Rather than being defined by gender, age or occasion, the collection encourages individual expression and originality, allowing each piece to become an extension of the wearer’s identity.

As guests explored the collection for the first time, they were also introduced to a special collaboration with Bianca, created exclusively for the launch event. The collaboration forms part of PIPATCHARA’s broader move into lifestyle, extending the brand’s creative vision. MARINE represents PIPATCHARA’s ongoing belief that design can create positive change. By giving discarded materials a second life, the collection connects people, nature and creativity while supporting the idea that purpose can be as important as aesthetics.
