Ronnarong “Ong” Khampha brings Lanna memory to life in Ink: Neo Lanna Dance this June, where bodies, ink and movement collide on stage.

Bringing a poetic mix of sight and sound straight to Chiang Mai, choreographic master and 2025 Future Lister Ronnarong “Ong” Khampha reclaims Lanna tradition in Ink: Neo Lanna Dance. The performance treats the human body as a canvas – a shifting terrain where fluid ink maps the boundaries of the flesh.

Together with musicians Wittaya Polvitoon, Witsarut Tawinno and Torpong Samerjai, Ronnarong bridges the gap between historical memory and modern expression. Backed by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC), this project is driven entirely by a mission to empower local artists and open the doors of contemporary art to everyone.

The programme opens with Lanna Movement: The Art of Fon, a hands-on workshop that invites participants to explore traditional Lanna dance patterns through a contemporary lens. The workshop takes place on Saturday, 4 July 2026, at 9am at Fah Lanna Art Museum. Admission is free, and you can register here.

The programme continues with Ink: Neo Lanna Dance. As the dancers leave traces of ink through their movements, the work reflects the fleeting nature of human experience. The performance takes place on Sunday, 12 July 2026, at 6.30pm at Fah Lanna Art Museum. Admission is also free, and you can register here.
