A Thousand Worlds Within River City Bangkok
Inside River City Bangkok, a thousand worlds emerge through art, antiques, architecture, ...
Bangkok has never been short on places to eat, drink or dance. Yet stepping into The Consul Club feels like leaving the city altogether. Opened on 2 February and located on the 30 and 30M floors of JLK Tower, this new social club trades Bangkok’s familiar rhythms for something more cinematic. Think 1980s Hong Kong atmosphere, live bands performing while you dine, and a mood that shifts as the night slowly unfolds.
This place brings together food, wine, champagne, cocktails, music and conversation in a space that moves easily from refined dining to a late-night social club.
Before we guide you through the city’s next hit, here’s a tip: arrive before sunset, when the golden hour light washes over the space and the city below, enhancing the beauty of the experience.

The name The Consul Club draws from Thai history during the reign of King Rama V, a period when Thailand stood as a centre of culture, diplomacy and creativity. The consul was a place for conducting business, exchanging ideas and welcoming state guests. That spirit carries through here. This is imagined as a meeting point for creatives, food lovers, entrepreneurs and trendsetters. While some areas operate on a membership basis, the main dining room and cocktail bar remain open to the public, keeping the club from feeling closed off or exclusive for the sake of it.
At the heart of The Consul Club is Rong Supper Club, led by chef Benson Feng. The name Rong comes from a Chinese character meaning fusion and harmony, which neatly sums up both the food and the experience.
The menu presents contemporary Chinese cuisine built on Sichuan flavours, balanced by the refinement of Cantonese traditions. Dishes are designed for sharing with highlights Sichuan chicken in chilli oil, Boston lobster braised with glutinous rice cakes, and dim sum such as blue swimmer crab and truffle xiao long bao.

Rong is not positioned as a traditional restaurant. As evening turns to night, live performances take over the space, shifting the mood from dining room to supper club. The result is a meal that unfolds alongside music and movement, making it feel closer to a night out in another city than a typical Bangkok dinner.
Overlooking Rong Supper Club is Bar Won, The Consul’s signature cocktail destination. Created by the team behind Seoul’s Alice Cheongdam, a regular on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list, Bar Won treats cocktails as a form of storytelling.
Each menu is created around themes of cultural exchange, drawing from travel, history, architecture and diplomacy. For the launch, standout drinks include Train to Isan, which reflects the region through local rum alongside lotus and pandan. Born Voyage takes inspiration from King Rama V’s first royal visit to Europe, translating a historic journey into a refined, layered drink. Other highlights include Dirty Blood, which incorporates dok kha chon, and ± One (plus minus one) featuring khao mak. Other cocktails reference the transition between Europe and Siam, as well as life along the Chao Phraya River, using technique and narrative rather than decoration to make their point.
Yang’s Club 94 sits as the club’s most exclusive zone and is inspired by Jackson Wang and Team Wang Design. Built around the philosophy of yin and yang, the space focuses on balance and coexistence. Celebrity DJs from around the world will rotate through the venue, turning it into a global nightlife concept that feels far removed from Bangkok’s usual club scene. Jackson Wang’s involvement gives The Consul Club an international edge, connecting Bangkok’s creative energy with global music and nightlife culture. Even in its current state, it already feels exciting and undeniably cool, though the space is still under construction and set to fully reveal itself in the near future.
Rong Supper Club and Bar Won are open to the general public. The Consul Club also runs as a membership social club, with members able to access Yang’s Club 94, private dining rooms, cigar lounges and a wine selection that is not available elsewhere. Membership comes with a few added perks, but the main dining and bar spaces remain open and welcoming.
