Disney fans, get your wallets ready as Disney Plus will be available to viewers in Thailand on June 30, according to an announcement by Disney CEO Robert Chapek last month. Disney Plus launched in the US back in 2019 and quickly expanded to other countries, including India. In India, the existing Hotstar streaming platform was rebranded to Disney Plus Hotstar, due to Walt Disney Company’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox in 2018, which made Hotstar a part of the Walt Disney Group. The official name for the platform in Thailand will also be Disney Plus Hotstar Thailand. But let’s dive into what we’re actually here for—the subscription costs for Thailand.
Disney Plus revealed their costs at 799 baht per year or 99 baht per month. Subscription allows for one account to stream on a maximum of two devices at the same time. Disney Plus Hotstar is also officially partnering with Thailand’s top mobile and internet service provider, AIS, which means that there’s good news for AIS customers. AIS users can enjoy a promotional subscription rate of 35 baht per month. More details are available here.
The streaming service boasts a vast library of TV shows and movies, both in English and regional languages, as well as access to Disney Plus’ original content, legacy Disney titles and more than 700 movies and 10,000 episodes of series from popular studios such as Disney, Marvel, Pixar, 20th Century Studios and National Geographic. Viewers can access the service through a bunch of devices including web browsers on PCs and laptops, Android, iOS, Amazon Fire TV Stick, Web OS on LG TVs, Apple TV and Chromecast.
Preceding the launch in Thailand, Disney Plus has been available in only three Southeast Asian countries so far: Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
