Born and raised in Bangkok, “Bo” Nawacharee Piyamongkol now splits her time between her hometown and Los Angeles, working as a filmmaker. Her works are characterised by their personal insights into socio-political topics, as well as the presence of themes of identity, relationships, and intimacy. Using a creative medium paired with a unique style of storytelling, Bo eases viewers into confronting difficult or socially taboo topics. Her interpretive dance film Bangkok2.5 about Bangkok’s ongoing air pollution problem won the Best Performance Award at the Los Angeles Experimental Dance and Music Festival last year. Bo hopes that her works will continue to stimulate conversations that may have not otherwise taken place.
