Think of collage art and the name of Nakrob Moonmanas will probably come to mind. The holder of a first-class degree in Thai language and literature from Chulalongkorn University, his forte is combining classical materials and local motifs in his nostalgic pieces. A winner of the Fan Pan Tae TV show in the Palaces Lover category, the young artist has successfully combined his passion for world history, life in the royal courts, myths and the interconnection between cultures into a truly unique style. Also an accomplished illustrator, his work has appeared on book covers, in fashion magazines and on posters all over Bangkok, but he says his proudest accomplishment to date came earlier this year when he was recognised by the Institute Francaise with an invitation to join the residency programme at the International des Arts in Paris. Nakrob has exhibited at numerous solo and group exhibitions in galleries around Thailand and in last 18 months he was commissioned to create unique works for brands such as Mercedes Benz, Volve Hotel Bangkok and ERB.
