Michael J Baines is The Man That Rescues Dogs (TMTRD). An expat in Thailand for 20 years, Michael is a chef by trade but has ditched the kitchen to dedicate his life to the rescue and care of stray dogs in Thailand for the last decade. Based in Chonburi, The Man that Rescues Dogs Foundation currently cares for 950 dogs, a number of which are special-needs dogs, and has established its own vet clinic. Michael is looking to expand the clinic into a fully- equipped pet hospital in order to help treat, vaccinate, and spay and neuter more dogs. The foundation relies solely on donations from around the world to cover its 40,000 baht a day expenses (1.2 million baht per month) and is regarded as one of the best in its efforts of animal rescues in Thailand. It’s amazing what one man with a big heart for animals and a big will to save them can accomplish.
