Krungthep “Paul” Direkmahamongkol

Founder & Designer, Paul Direk Fashion Brand

Industry : Lifestyle

With feet firmly planted in both Asia (Thailand) and Europe (Germany), Paul has the best of both worlds. His Spring/Summer 2023 collection was recently showcased at MQ Vienna Fashion Week, which was a far cry from his former job as hotel front desk assistant manager. He is now featured in the likes of the New York Times, The Korea Times, Die Presse of Austria and Sawasdee Magazine, and was chosen by South Korea to represent the Thai fashion industry in Seoul, Busan and Daegu. His "The Future of Fashion" collection–focussing on sustainability and circular economy–brings fashion back to nature with the use of hand-woven hemp, using the wax-resist technique to create patterns, and includes accessories such as hand-woven reed bags. He hopes to make sustainable fashion more popular and widespread. Health is also a priority, not only for himself–he plans to improve his own work-life balance–but he also hopes for equal access to a good healthcare system in Thailand. Antoni Gaudi and La Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona, Spain, never cease to inspire him.
