ADHOC BKK, snuck away in a side soi off Sukhumvit 39, is helmed by chef Pop Pitchakorn with front of house led by Khun Cartoon. Together they have created a stellar modern Thai dining experience. Chef Pop showcases stylishly presented flavour-forward dishes, representing her dual cultural heritage of North and South Thailand. Begin with a dish representing three Thai classics, gai yang, som tum and laab moo, a culinary triumph overflowing with colour, texture and flavour. Continue with a luscious bite of banana shrimp taco with pineapple. Then enjoy an on-point goby fish with reimagined satay sauce, an exquisitely balanced Tapi river prawn curry and an almost indescribable Thai wagyu with silky bai yanang sauce. This is innovative cooking at its best. The Samrub course continues to dazzle including a multilayered flavour soup of big fin reef squid, punchy blue crab Ion and beef tongue phadcha, with a pork neck alternative. End with signature burned coconut husk ice cream with Leum Pua sticky rice, completed with agenius touch of drizzled charcoal powder from the burnt husk. The wine pairing for the eleven-course tasting menu is superb, featuring a GranMonte bubbly to begin, continuing with a stunning Saint Estephe and including a Brunello di Montalcino with the Samrub. An innovative kombucha pairing has recently been added.
Order the a la carte add-ons of fluffy crab omelette and stir fried tom yum Sukhothai noodles with prawns.
