We lived above the restaurant in Paris even before we started renovating. We were living together with a Thai designer and carpenter. So I saw and experienced first hand how a F&amp;B business runs. I guess you could say now that a lot of &lsquo;running&rsquo; things come second nature to me.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-06eb21ef-7fff-1126-d145-b9d289f55017\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Arnon shares insights into how his family&#8217;s restaurant in France influenced his approach to managing his own restaurant and bar businesses.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-46c2ef59-7fff-33ed-5c74-f3c828e53525\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Creativity is central to his work, and Opium Bar was designed with the theme of &#8216;Liquid Surreality,&#8217; aiming to transport visitors to the historical atmosphere of a hazy opium den from Chinatown&#8217;s past.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.koktailmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/5f5c177ef7190f01465f81b5192d1a53.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" ><\/a> <\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-c1aa8242-7fff-5bed-9758-8f870a8ef36b\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When asked about the bar&rsquo;s theme and how he came up with these concepts, Arnon reflected,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-1753cf71-7fff-b18b-d1ed-d2a49845f989\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;I truly believe that what we consume should evoke some kind of emotions or feeling inside you. For example, people talk about their mum&rsquo;s home cooking &ndash; those dishes transport you back to your childhood. So at Opium we want to create something that triggers memories because I believe that kind of experience is most satisfying. So we try to make drinks that will challenge your perception and hopefully evoke some kind of emotion &ndash; hence a liquid surreality.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">He believes these elements play an important role in shaping the customer experience.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-602646f1-7fff-e3db-73ee-12029c4a1b4a\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-dcd73cd7-7fff-0961-9b29-18ec63f6bd1d\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">In addition to running restaurants and bar businesses&mdash;Opium Bar, Anya&rsquo;s Place and Archie Nitro&mdash;Arnon has worn many hats, serving as a barista, ice cream maker, gallery owner, and photographer.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-e0b6619e-7fff-3701-f424-7af45d881836\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Arnon explains how this diverse experience has contributed to his success.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-4da249a5-7fff-55f0-501d-56b7430ce052\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;I tend to think of many aspects of the business. From creator to consumer &ndash; within those categories: from owner to bartender to dish washer and casual eater to hardcore food\/drink fan. This allows me to cater for people who appreciate our creations.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-d79e3386-7fff-89c7-a341-b326ec1ac0ce\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When faced with challenges, Arnon shared how he overcame them.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-43a22f4c-7fff-ac95-a2f0-1554ece3bd0f\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;Time is always in shorthand. Spend your time wisely, don&rsquo;t procrastinate. Easier said than done but I find exercising really help with concentration and energy to do more things in limited time.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.koktailmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/3333a345748babf40df072ed6223f632.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"\" target=\"_blank\" ><\/a> <\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-76fc6277-7fff-2c94-ecc0-cc4069959a47\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">When asked to share an example of navigating challenges within the system, drawing inspiration from his role models and &#8220;The Godfather&#8221; novel, Arnon said,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-7bc615d6-7fff-4d14-ba6b-dd98f0b592ac\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;Perhaps &lsquo;The Godfather&rsquo; isn&rsquo;t the best example to follow. But certainly, hard work pays off, much like what my grandfather has done. If Don Corleone could teach you anything, it&rsquo;s don&rsquo;t go down without a fight.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-ec3f5593-7fff-8b62-3975-378a16590cef\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Looking ahead, Arnon plans to create new restaurants that fill gaps in the market. He elaborates on these gaps and his plans to address them.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-4fb0a0c2-7fff-a77a-4a68-916e13ade019\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;Probably one of the most difficult questions so far. Obviously if you enter the market with the same product then you&rsquo;re going to have to compete with everyone else. But if you have something different then people will come to you. I think giving customers something different and genuine will always win.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-4a34d19f-7fff-e721-efed-823b34a7e61e\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Regarding his goals and aspirations for his restaurant and bar businesses, as well as his role within the industry, Arnon shared,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-a16303ca-7fff-137a-d4a5-061115205742\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;Of course, having more successful businesses would be ideal. But keeping the ones already operating successful for years to come would be the goal. I would like to have the opportunity to provide a place for aspiring bartenders to learn how to tend bar and make genuinely good drinks, as well as creating their own signatures rather than just pour pre-mixes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lastly, he offers advice to aspiring food entrepreneurs, especially those aiming to build a brand with creativity and community engagement at its core,<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-3432632f-7fff-49d7-4ddb-0bd5e9717e96\"><\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-bcf1fc99-7fff-8ab6-0666-56fbda5fe1e8\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&ldquo;Give customers the best you can do. Believe in your products and persevere. Communication is key &ndash; make sure customers understand what you&rsquo;re doing and why it&rsquo;s better than your competitors.
