For over six decades, the International Women\u2019s Club of Thailand (IWC) has played an important role in bringing together women of various nationalities, building friendships and supporting charitable initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Founded in 1965, the club has served as a space for knowledge exchange, cultural appreciation and philanthropic work, making it one of Thailand\u2019s most esteemed women\u2019s organisations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The History of IWC<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The idea for the IWC was first conceived in 1964 by a group of Thai and expatriate women in Bangkok. Prominent figures including M.R. Sermsri Kasemsri, Dorothy Culver, Khunying Mani Sirivorasarn, Khunying Alma Link and Aimee Lefevre played key roles in its establishment. The formation of the club was strongly encouraged by Mom Ngarmchitr Purachatra, also known as Princess Prem Purachatra, who was then the president of the International Council of Women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under the leadership of its first president, M.R. Sermsri Kasemsri, the IWC officially launched in 1965 with an initial membership of around 100 women. The club quickly gained recognition as a welcoming community for women of all backgrounds, uniting members through shared interests and charitable causes. Over the years, IWC has grown significantly, now boasting members from over 70 countries. It has become a hub for international women in Thailand, offering social, cultural and philanthropic activities that help members integrate into their new environment while giving back to society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the club\u2019s primary missions has always been to support underprivileged women and children. Through fundraising events, donations and active volunteer work, IWC has contributed to numerous charitable foundations, ensuring its positive impact extends beyond its membership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025 Inaugural Business Meeting & Lunar Luxe Luncheon<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Continuing its long-standing tradition of philanthropy and camaraderie, the International Women\u2019s Club of Thailand, under the leadership of newly appointed President Diana Foo, hosted its 2025 inaugural business meeting and Lunar Luxe luncheon at Anantara Siam Bangkok. This event welcomed over 160 guests, including distinguished attendees such as Thanpuying Varaporn Pramoj and H.E. Ilse Lilian Ferrer Silva, the Ambassador of Mexico to Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gathering began with an inspiring speech from Thanpuying Varaporn Pramoj, who highlighted the significance of IWC\u2019s role in welcoming expatriate women to Thailand. She expressed her gratitude for being part of such a dynamic organisation, emphasising the importance of driving a sense of belonging for international women in Thailand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Diana Foo took the opportunity to reiterate IWC\u2019s mission and its 60-year history of supporting women and children in need. She reaffirmed the club\u2019s commitment to philanthropy and announced that this year\u2019s donations would benefit Pavena Hongsakula\u2019s Pavena Foundation for Women and Children, along with other organisations dedicated to improving the welfare of women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Celebration of Culture and Generosity<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The event was both a business meeting and a  celebration of Chinese New Year filled with entertainment, networking and fundraising. Guests were treated to a three-course gourmet lunch curated by the Anantara Siam Bangkok culinary team and paired with fine wines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A highlight of the afternoon was the performances by celebrity socialite Gloria Mahadumrongkul and Thailand\u2019s rhythmic gymnastics champion Piyada Peeramatukorn, adding an element of elegance and grace to the gathering. Additionally, Dr. Wanviput Sanphasitvong gave a talk on the newly launched Vitallife Programme at Bumrungrad International Hospital, an initiative focused on anti-ageing and holistic wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adding to the excitement, a silent auction was held featuring an exquisite 18-carat pink gold mother-of-pearl necklace and pendant donated by Mona Chi. Further supporting the cause, Gloria Mahadumrongkul made a spontaneous cash donation of Baht 20,000, demonstrating the spirit of generosity that defines IWC events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Community Effort<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The event\u2019s success was made possible by the support of IWC\u2019s past presidents and dedicated members. Contributions came in various forms, from door prizes to sponsorships. As the event came to a close, the celebration continued with lively dance music, reinforcing the club\u2019s reputation for balancing professionalism with fun. It was an occasion where influential women gathered to strengthen friendships and also to make a tangible impact on the lives of those in need. President Diana Foo plans to hold interesting programmes for each month\u2019s meeting to encourage more participation from members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
