After almost four decades since its release, ‘Running Up That Hill’ has found renewed favor among a younger generation<\/h3>\n

If you’ve been hearing Kate Bush’s 1985 single <\/span>Running Up That Hill<\/em> in random places lately, it’s not just a coincidence. The track is “being given a whole new lease of life,” as the English singer herself puts it, due to its prominence in the latest season of the wildly popular Netflix series Stranger Things<\/em>. <\/p>\n

The track forms a pivotal part of the show’s storyline, which repeats as a motif throughout the season. Heard in the first episode of season 4 when Sadie Sink<\/a>’s Max Mayfield listens to the song on her Walkman, it would become a key for escaping certain doom in later episodes.<\/p>\n

After the release of the latest season of Stranger Things<\/em>, Running Up That Hill<\/em> quickly became the most-streamed song on Spotify in both the UK and the US and also climbed up to the top 10 in the UK Singles Chart. Apart from its surge in streams, the song’s official music video<\/a> now has nearly 59 million views on YouTube. Running Up That Hill<\/em> has been used in 500,000 short videos<\/a><\/span> on TikTok and has inspired memes scoring thousands of likes.<\/span><\/p>\n

The resurgence of the anthem has been so powerful that even the songwriter herself has given Stranger Things<\/em> her blessing<\/a>:<\/p>\n
