Created by artists, these toys are usually produced in limited quantities, which drives up their prices. Events and gatherings began to occur, bringing together independent artists, collectors, and both small and major manufacturers.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-923cdfba-7fff-be0b-cde9-25629bbff47b\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the evolution of art toys into a more mainstream product was largely by the emergence of POP MART, a Chinese retail company. Originally selling various pop culture items for Chinese teenagers, POP MART shifted its focus exclusively to toys, collectibles, and art toys.<\/p>\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here Comes the Turning Point<\/h1>\n<p><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-dda63948-7fff-0ba2-1c61-91b9d7053b07\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">They introduced the concept of &#8220;blind boxes,&#8221; which sold at an affordable price and were marketed through both physical stores and vending machines. Blind Box refers to the type of packaging that keeps the collectible toy as a mystery until it is opened. Blind boxes typically come in series that show a collection; some figurines are rarer to find than others, these are referred to as &#8220;secret&#8221;, &#8220;hidden&#8221;, or &#8220;chase&#8221; figures. This trend also inspired Thai artists to create art toys that reflected Thai culture.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-34408d5f-7fff-5530-6a86-e68b1ddc0061\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The popularity of Art Toys over the past year is likely due to the opening of the first POP MART branch at Central World in September 2023. Subsequently, a third POP MART branch was inaugurated at Central Ladprao in February, with a fourth opening in Fashion Island. Inspired by a young child, Molly debuted as a tiny artist, complete with a beret, apron, palette, and brush. Her mix of stubbornness, charm, intelligence, and fun has endeared her to fans, making her a beloved pop culture icon.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-6fa989c8-7fff-fddc-c774-b2eb049a7528\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wong, a Hong Kong artist and toy designer, partnered with POP MART in 2016, catapulting Molly to fame among the younger generation. However, in his dreams, he becomes adventurous, exploring new worlds and making friends. There he meets Mother Cloud, who gives him Baby Cloud as a companion. Baby Cloud changes shape according to Dimoo&#8217;s emotions, constantly guarding and accompanying him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-966b84ad-7fff-63a2-be06-9617d90f5858\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ayan, a graduate of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, co-founded MOUNTAIN STUDIO and manages YANSTUDIO. Its presence is marked by an overwhelming openness and it exists in a realm of dark, endless space.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-b0d322eb-7fff-b598-86c8-516db7fe723a\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Created in 2018 by Xiongmao, a concept and art toy designer and the Director of NORTH STUDIO, SKULLPANDA quickly became iconic, influencing cosplay trends with its distinctive style. Created by &#8216;Crybaby Molly&#8217; or Mod-Nisa Srikumdee, she is the first Thai artist to collaborate with POP MART, sparking widespread enthusiasm whether in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan or China. Mod has always been inclined towards art, often drawing tearful characters since her university days. Originally a graphic designer, she decided to pursue her passion for art more fully during some free time, leading to the creation of Crybaby. The standout among them is Labubu, a small monster known for his pointed ears and serrated teeth. Despite his mischievous look, Labubu is actually very kind-hearted, often trying to help others even when his actions inadvertently lead to mishaps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span id=\"docs-internal-guid-5702ffe0-7fff-08a3-4ca7-01cb7e1f3c2b\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Originally from Hong Kong and raised in the Netherlands, Kasing now resides in Belgium. He is the first Chinese recipient of the Illustration Award in Belgium and has over a decade of experience in illustration, marked by a distinctive Nordic Fairy Tale style. Transitioning from illustration to toy design in 2010, he collaborated with How2work to launch an art toy series.
